583 U.S. ___ (2018)
A 2018 United States Supreme Court Opinion in which the Court held that the whistleblower protections provided under the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act applied only to individuals who report the violations to the government (i.e., the SEC). The Court held that the anti-retaliation provisons of the Act (which protect whistleblowers from being fired, demoted, or harassed) do not protect individuals who report the problem to the company’s management but not the SEC.
